2009 support for our local Pet Care, Shelters, pet food aid, funds for spay & neutering etc..

Our Pet Shelter support went to  Worcester Animal Rescue League

Our goal was to help them find as many new homes for their shelter cats.  Which was very successful in doing just that.

Second chance Fund for Animal Welfare, Inc.  Sponsored by: Iris Tanner

Second Chance had a table to sell their products to help get funds, to support neutering and spaying for those who can't afford it.

Pet Food Pantry.   Food collected at the show, by giving free raffle tickets for cat food.  The more food you brought, the more tickets you received. A Pet Food Pantry is a new idea and there isn't very many in the state.  We hope to help this new concept to grow and hopefully keep pets with their families and not go to shelters.

For the Love of a Pet seeks to keep animals with their owner.

Carol Eklund of Sandwich, who was aware that the worsening economy was putting strains on families with pets, started For the Love of a pet, pet food pantry, about three months ago.

With people losing jobs or looking to cut back on expenses to compensate for reduced income, they face the hard decision of whether they can afford to keep a pet.

It's a decision they don't make lightly. Often a pet or pets effectively have become part of the family.

Eklund's idea: to provide pet owners under financial strain with pet food so that their pets can continue to stay with their families, and not be brought to shelters or given away to other owners.
